Fascinating, reading. I'd heard of the store, but had no idea it was anything like that--must have really been something, in it's hey-day.

nutters !
i was dispatching in the 90's.
only nutters i saw were car drivers and suicidal pedestrians.
ur right about selfridges.
london is full of magnificent architecture and history.
one of the main reasons i came to live here.

Resisting the temptation to say "Yeah, ok" just to wind you up.
Alot of friends used to be dispatch riders in the 80's. A lot of them got hurt, some quite badly, doing that job in London.
